How Much Does Ceramic Coating Cost in Scarborough?

Ceramic coating is one of those services where pricing is all over the map. You will see ads for $199 ceramic coatings on Facebook, and you will see shops quoting $2,000 or more. So what does ceramic coating actually cost in Scarborough and the GTA? Here is a straightforward breakdown based on what we charge at Beyond Detail in 2026.

Entry Tier — $599

Our entry-level ceramic coating package starts at $599 for sedans and smaller vehicles. This includes a single-layer ceramic coating application, a thorough hand wash and decontamination, and light paint preparation. You get real ceramic protection — not a spray sealant marketed as ceramic.

This tier is a solid choice for daily drivers that are in decent condition. If your paint does not have heavy swirl marks or scratches, this package gives you hydrophobic protection, UV resistance, and easier washing for the next 2-3 years.

Pro Tier — $899 (IGL Kenzo, 5-Year Warranty)

The Pro tier is our most popular package at $899. It includes a single-stage paint correction to remove light swirl marks and wash scratches, followed by a single-layer application of IGL Kenzo ceramic coating. IGL Kenzo is a professional-grade 10H coating that we are certified to apply. It comes with a 5-year manufacturer warranty.

Paint correction before coating is what separates a proper ceramic coating job from a cheap one. If you apply coating over swirl marks, you are locking in those imperfections. The correction step ensures your paint looks clean and sharp before the coating goes on.

Ultimate Tier — $1,299 (Multi-Layer IGL Kenzo, 9-Year Warranty)

The Ultimate package at $1,299 is for owners who want maximum protection and gloss. It includes a full multi-stage paint correction — we remove deeper scratches and defects that a single-stage correction cannot address. Then we apply multiple layers of IGL Kenzo ceramic coating, building up thickness and durability. This package comes with a 9-year manufacturer warranty.

This tier is popular with new car owners who want to protect their investment from day one, and with enthusiasts who care about having a deep, wet-look finish that lasts years.

What Affects the Price?

Vehicle size is the biggest factor. The prices above are based on sedans and compact cars. SUVs and trucks add 15-25% to the cost because there is simply more surface area to correct and coat. A Jeep Wrangler or a Ford F-150 takes significantly more product and time than a Honda Civic.

Paint condition also matters. A car with heavy oxidation, deep scratches, or neglected paint may need more correction work than what is included in the standard packages. We assess every vehicle individually during our free consultation and provide an exact quote before any work begins.

Colour plays a role too. Black and other dark-coloured vehicles show imperfections more easily and require more careful correction work. This can add time to the job.

Why Cheap $199 Ceramic Coatings Are a Waste of Money

You have probably seen Groupon deals or Facebook ads offering ceramic coating for $199 or even $99. Here is the truth: those are not ceramic coatings. They are spray-on sealants that last a few weeks to a couple of months. A real ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your paint and requires proper surface preparation, controlled application, and curing time.

At $199, the shop cannot afford to spend 4-8 hours on your vehicle, use professional-grade coating products, or include any paint correction. You are paying for a quick spray and wipe that will wash off within weeks. Worse, applying a coating over contaminated or damaged paint seals in the imperfections.

Maintenance Costs After Coating

A ceramic-coated car is much easier and cheaper to maintain. You still need to wash it regularly — we recommend every two weeks — but the washes take less time because dirt and contaminants do not bond to the coated surface. A maintenance wash costs around $50-80 at a proper hand wash, or you can do it yourself with a foam cannon and microfibre mitt.

We also recommend an annual maintenance detail and coating inspection, which runs about $150-200. This keeps your coating performing at its peak and ensures the warranty stays valid.

Ceramic Coating vs. Wax — The Math

Traditional wax costs $50-100 per application and needs to be reapplied every 2-3 months. That is 4-6 applications per year, costing $200-400 annually. Over 5 years, you are looking at $1,000-2,000 on wax alone — and you never get the hardness, chemical resistance, or UV protection that ceramic provides.

A ceramic coating at $599-1,299 is a one-time cost that lasts 2-9 years depending on the package. When you factor in the reduced maintenance costs and the protection it provides against Toronto road salt, UV damage, and bird droppings, ceramic coating is the more economical choice over time.
