Our Honest Take on the F-150
The F-150 is a big canvas. More surface area means more time on every service — roughly 30 to 50 percent more labor than a midsize sedan. That is the first thing to know about truck pricing. The second is that F-150s earn their keep — work trucks come in with deep scratches from tools, bed rash, rock chips on the leading edges, and interior wear that smaller cars just do not get.
Ford clear coat holds up better than Tesla clear coat but worse than most luxury makes. Expect light oxidation and UV fade on older trucks, especially on the hood and roof where the sun hits hardest. A two-stage paint correction reliably brings back gloss on 3 to 5 year old F-150s.
Interior detailing is where most F-150 owners underestimate the value. Salt, sand, sawdust, coffee, work boots — the interior takes more abuse than any sedan cabin. A full deep clean plus leather conditioning (or fabric protection) resets a work truck in a way that nothing else does.
For daily drivers and weekend trucks, we typically recommend a two-stage paint correction, a 5-year ceramic coating, and a full interior reset. For work trucks, we often focus on interior refresh plus a base-level ceramic on the hood, roof, and rocker panels where damage happens fastest.

Ford F-150 FAQs
Does ceramic coating work on a work truck that gets scratched every week?
+
Ceramic coating protects against chemical and UV damage — it is not armour. If your F-150 is hauling building materials or tools daily, you will still get scratches and chips, and ceramic will not stop them. Where it helps: salt resistance, easier washing, slower UV fade, and chemical stain resistance. For many work truck owners, the right call is a base-tier ceramic on the cab focused on salt and UV protection, not a premium multi-year coating.
Why does F-150 detailing cost more than a sedan?
+
Surface area and condition. An F-150 has roughly 30 to 50 percent more paintable surface than a midsize sedan, so every service — wash, clay, polish, coating — takes correspondingly longer. Interior detailing on a truck is also more labour because of the work wear and the larger cabin volume. We price by size class and adjust for condition after inspection.
Can you coat the bed liner too?
+
We can apply ceramic to painted bed rails and bed caps, but most factory spray-in bed liners are not compatible with ceramic coating — the surface texture is too rough to bond properly. For truck beds specifically, we recommend keeping the factory liner as-is and focusing ceramic investment on the painted surfaces where it actually holds up.
How often should I detail my F-150 in Scarborough?
+
For a daily-driven F-150, a full interior and exterior reset twice a year is the sweet spot — once at the end of winter to strip salt damage, once in early fall to prep for the next winter. Work trucks may need interior resets more often depending on how rough they get used.
Is a full ceramic coating worth it on a 5-year-old truck?
+
Usually yes, if the paint is still in decent shape. Paint correction first to reset the finish, then a 2 or 5-year ceramic depending on how long you plan to keep the truck. For older trucks with heavy clear coat damage, we walk through what paint correction can and cannot fix before committing to a coating.
